Nikki Tobias, Ph.D.
I collaborate with action-oriented people who want more fulfillment personally or professionally by providing clarity, strategy, and ongoing motivation to achieve their goals and aspirations.
I utilize the enneagram (I'm an 8w7), the self coaching model, and several other tools and techniques to work with people, couples, families, and work teams to improve personal and professional awareness and communication.
You might be asking what makes me qualified to work with people in some of the most difficult or most important times of their lives. My educational experience in higher education, administration, counseling, and student affairs has provided me with a strong foundation in human behavior. This foundation has been able to support the structure of my professional experience in retail management, loss prevention, non-profit management, event management and fundraising, domestic violence and housing instability, operations, and addiction recovery. My love of learning has allowed me to supplement my personal, educational, and professional experience with reading, listening, and studying tools that allow me to speak with clients and audiences clearly, directly, frankly, and in emotionally safe and connected ways. We together we are able to cut through the chaos and get to the root of the "problem" or challenge and achieve more stability and success more quickly than most clients think would be possible.

I have been coaching people over the course of my professional life in my work in retail management, loss prevention, crisis management, and supervision. I am a Certified Life Coach (CLC) through the Life Purpose Institute in 2016.
I've always been a teaching, both formally and informally, both inside and outside of traditional classroom settings. Even as a speaker, my audience learns through the presentations. I work closely with leaders of businesses, staffs, church groups, networking groups, organizations, and more to determine their needs and goals and then I create a presentation to achieve those outcomes in fun, applicable, and memorable ways.
I'm described by audience members as knowledgeable, fun, articulate, thought provoking, exuberant, enthusiastic, inspiring, motivating, dynamic, engaging, captivating, and entertaining.
I work closely with leaders of businesses, staffs, church groups, networking groups, organizations, non-profits, addiction recovery, and more to determine their needs and goals and then I create a presentation to achieve those outcomes in fun, applicable, and memorable ways.
My work in student affairs began in 1999 when I was selected to serve as the student representative to the Council of Trustees at Mansfield University. I've since received a Master of Science and my Doctor of Philosophy degrees in College Student Affairs Administration.
I've worked primarily in residence life but also have experience working with student activities, career counseling, crisis management, concert and event management, living and learning communities, and more. Staff coaching and development as well as crisis management are some of my favorite activities.

Let Me Tell You A Story
Many years ago I was concluding therapy with a PhD therapy student and she gave me a small giraffe figurine. She said "Nikki, you're like a giraffe. You're able to see what's ahead and you can say to the rest of the animals, 'hey guys, follow me!' You are visionary but not frenetic. You are visionary while having your feet firmly planted on the ground." Although that was more than 10 years ago, I remember it so vividly because I felt so seen in ways I had never been seen before. She provided me with language about myself that resonated equally powerfully and peacefully.
Giraffes stand tall, look to the future, they are wise and fearless, they exhibit strength and power, they are both grounded and visionary, they build loyal relationships and have a huge heart.
Hence, the name of my coaching and speaking business - Grounded Vision. I am both visionary and grounded. I see the BIG picture and know the steps it will take to achieve the big goals. I am able to sit with people in major personal or professional crisis from a "clean" and clear perspective separate from the emotions and drama that may be clouding the person's view and judgment. All this happens while holding space for the person to lean into and feel their emotions throughout the journey.
